One of my favorite drives to take is the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge one hour car trip through its grounds. You can hop in your car, take a friend or family and visit this beautiful preserve from your car window. We always take along a couple of sets of binoculars so we can see the eagles in their nests a bit closer. Of course, there are lots of species of duck, herons, cranes, turtles and warblers if you are lucky. Then, we continue our journey to Metzger Marsh to see if an eagle has returned to the large nest visible from the parking lot. We have the best luck seeing one in that spot. Plus there is a beach on the shores of Lake Erie to walk just off the parking lot.
