This Old House

If you have a lover of history and old houses in the Maumee area, there are several books by local authors that make perfect holiday gifts. “Lights Along the River: Landmark Architecture of the Maumee River Valley” by Lee Comer and Ted Ligibel features many prominent homes and their histories. The authors move up the Maumee River from Grand Rapids and Waterville to Maumee and Perrysburg. Photos are included, which makes this book a must-have for local real estate mavens, history buffs and new residents of these towns.

One of my fellow Maumee Garden Club members, Marilyn “Marty” Wendler, is the author of several local books as well including “The Foot of the Rapids,” “Cottages and Castles of Maumee, Ohio,” “Maumee, Ohio, “Historic Maumee” and “A Beacon in the Wilderness.” She is the former director of the Wolcott House and is currently curator emerita. I keep several of her books in my real estate office to show to clients who are interested in living in our area.
