According to GivingTuesday.org, Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. The idea was born and incubated at the 92nd Street Y and its Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact in New York City. GivingTuesday is now an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
I mention this because it is fast approaching. So many of you are generous with donations at this time of year and I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to remind you that this extraordinary day is the time to consider your year-end giving.
For the last two years, I have donated $100 from each of my real estate closings to one of four local organizations. The program is called Heart for the Home. The first donation in January 2021 went to the American Red Cross. The other organizations I selected include The Victory Center, Toledo Day Nursery and Mobile Meals as I have a personal connection with all of them. I hope you have a special group or organization that you will honor this day.
