Widening 475 and new interchange coming to Maumee

If you have headed out Maumee-Western, you undoubtedly have seen the ODOT crews beginning their work preparing for new on and off ramps from 475/US 23. When Arrowhead Park was first proposed, land was set aside for the development of a second interchange at Maumee-Western. From early discussion in the 1980s it was meant for trucks, mainly to keep heavy traffic from the business park entrance on Dussel and give the trucks access to the industrial plants along Illinois Ave. Today, the additional purpose of the interchange is the growth of residential housing in the area. The new interchange will provide additional access to the more than 15,000 residents living in Monclova Township. It will be similar to the diamond configuration in Perrysburg and expected to be completed by 2024.
