Save the Monarch Butterfly

Now is the time to pick milkweed pods and bring them in a paper bag to the Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District building located at 130 W. Dudley St. Outside this office are recycling bins where you can place your bag(s). The milkweed pods are opened, and each seed is separated from the floss (fluffy white feather-like attachment), packaged, and sent throughout Ohio for planting. The more milkweed for the Monarch caterpillar to eat, the more Monarch butterflies will display their beauty to all of us in northwest Ohio.
