A proposal to temporarily re-stripe Conant Street to allow a center turn lane from Harrison to Anthony Trail has been approved by the Maumee City Council. Maumee City Administrator Patrick Burtch is working toward a final plan of parallel parking along the roadway with one lane of traffic both north and south. He hopes to discourage automotive traffic from using Conant Street as a thoroughfare and find an alternative route for travel. The temporary re-marking of the street is a test to determine if traffic will be lessened through the city. If the traffic is less, the city hopes to add gathering areas with decorative lighting, gas fire pits as well as angle parking along side streets.
