Currently, the Maumee Police Department will hold a citizens’ police academy on Aug. 6, 13, 20, 27; Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24; and Oct. 1 and 8. The dates are pending stay-at-home orders being lifted. Students will learn about the police department with classes will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. A wide variety of topics will be discussed throughout the course of the academy and students will be encouraged to participate and ask questions. Once the academy is completed, students will be offered the opportunity to be involved with the police department to help with different events.
