The 45th annual Hometown Heroes banquet sponsored by the Maumee Chamber of Commerce is Thursday, March 5 at The Pinnacle. Nominations for this year have closed and we are awaiting word on the final selections for Citizens of the Year and the Hometown Heroes. There are additional awards given during the event including the Golden Apple awards for educators, the River Award for community generosity and civic responsibility and the Bridge Award for a youth mentor. I have been a sponsor for the event for many years. Having grown up and lived in Maumee, I am pleased to be a part of the evening that recognizes so many of our Maumee citizens and educators.
Speaking of Awards…The Maumee High School Distinguished Alumni awards ceremony and Athletic Hall of Fame induction is set for Saturday, Feb. 8 at Parkway Plaza in Maumee. Past winners will be remembered and present winners announced and honored.
The Maumee Chamber will host a Career and Job Expo on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2:30-6:30 pm at Maumee High School. Jobseekers of all ages and levels are encouraged to attend. If you have a business and would like to reserve a space to speak with potential employees, call 419-893-5805.
