This month, Maumee’s own track star Zak Kirk finished 7th in the 3200 meter run at the Ohio state track meet. After getting very close to a second place finish under OHSAA Division I record holder Andrew Jordan, Kirk lost his momentum with about one lap to go still finishing impressively with a time of 9:09.11. Kirk has just completed his junior year at Maumee High School and is expected to take every distance record by the end of his senior season. If he continues along this path with no injury Kirk’s coach Craig Snyder believes “he will become the greatest distance runner Maumee High School has ever seen.”
Wow, great job Zak! Congratulations, and we hope to see even more great things from you in 2017!
